Frequently Asked Questions

YES! All CMP waterfalls should ONLY use filtered water. The water line to the waterfall must be filtered.

Operating with unfiltered water will degrade the water flow performance and could permanently affect the waterfall. Waterfalls damaged by unfiltered water are not warrantable.

We recommend the CMP Water Feature Filteror other cartridge filter.

NOTE: If a waterfall is already being affected by debris, refer to the FAQ titled, “My waterfall has ‘breaks’ in the sheeting.»

‘Breaks’ in the sheeting could be due to the following:

  • Debris may be caught in the lip.
    • Use the cleanout tool or a thin flat tool to clear the lip. DO NOT CUT ANY SUPPORTS.
    • Make sure the rock trap is installed properly and is not clogged.
  • Check for burrs on supports in LED waterfalls.
    • A thin hacksaw blade may be used to carefully smooth edges as needed. REMEMBER NOT TO CUT THE SUPPORTS.
  • GPM may be inaccurate. Too little flow or too much flow through the waterfall prevents proper water flow.
  • Filter
    • The water line running to the waterfall must be filtered. We recommend the CMP Water Feature Filter or other cartridge filter.

The rock trap is always recommended. It captures debris in the pipes and prevents debris from building up in the pool.

However, we do not recommend using the screen. Hair and other small debris can build up over time and impede water flow.

NOTE: During installation, do not “drag” the pipes along the ground or in the dirt. This fills the pipes with dirt and the waterfall will not work correctly after installation. (Yes, this really happens!)

The original Brilliant Wonders® LED Waterfall cannot be cut in the factory or field. Brilliant Wonders LED Waterfall 2 can be factory cut to a custom radius. Natural Wonders® Waterfalls and Streamfalls can be custom cut in the field or factory cut.

To calculate the radius, you only need to know the length of the waterfall ( L ) and the maximum width ( W ) from the center of the fall to the uncut lip.

– Calculate the radius using the formula: W/2 + L2 / 8W.

– You may also use the online CMP Radius Calculator tool located on the Support page.

NOTE: Natural Wonders® Waterfalls and Streamfalls can be custom cut in the field or factory cut. Never cut to within less than 1.5″ of the body.
