[VIDEO] CMP PRESENTS . . .5 “PROBLEMS” WITH SALT SYSTEMS

In Episode 201 of CMP Presents, Stephen and Susie take the Salty Challenge. Find out who will win! 😎

But first, we talk about the top 5 complaints from pool pros and homeowners on salt chlorine generators. Salt can make the pool much easier to care for, with tons of other benefits. But what about the potential drawbacks; is there an improvement?

Problem 1: Difficult to maintain
Problem 2: Calcium Build-up on the cell
Problem 3: Broken flow switches and temp sensors
Problem 4: Hard to keep the salt level right
Problem 5: The main control breaks too often

Find out how CMP solves ALL of these so-called problems with an improved salt system!

TOP 5 PROBLEMS SOLVED BY POWERCLEAN SALT CHLORINE GENERATORS

Common complaints about salts systems and a new alternative.

Have you ever come across complaints about salt chlorine generators? Or had a few of your own? We discuss salty problems below and provide some ammo to help you overcome them.

1. SALT SYSTEMS ARE DIFFICULT TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN

Most salt systems require an acid mixture to clean the cell plates at least once a month, if not more often. Mixing, diluting and pouring acid into special cleaning stands can be very unsafe. It’s never safe around children and pets. And if we’re honest, the hassle means the cell doesn’t get cleaned often enough.

It’s normal for a salt cell to experience some mineral build-up on the plates. Most products require soaking in a diluted acid solution. Not only is this dangerous for customers, but a liability for safety, and a hassle for service pros. How many have had a soaking cell fall over and damage a deck or cause a burn?

The design of Powerclean Salt cells makes this a thing of the past. No special cleaning stand or acid is needed to clean a Powerclean Salt cell. The titanium plates inside a Powerclean Salt cell are easy to remove. Simply unscrew the cap and you are done. Use the blue cleaning tool to remove any debris or mineral build-up… and please, put away the acid.

2. SALT CELLS CONSTANTLY BUILD UP CALCIUM ON THE CELL PLATES

Most salt system cell plates are placed close together. They are designed this way to allow sharing of electricity between the plates. When the cell plates are crammed into a small space, they are difficult to clean. Calcium build-up becomes a problem much faster, as the minerals bridge the gap between the cell plates.

The cell plate design in a Powerclean Salt System is in a different class. In this better design, each plate is individually powered. The large titanium-coated plates are spaced further apart. Powerclean Salt cells are easier to clean with a design that minimizes calcium build-up.

3. CHLORINE GENERATOR FLOW SWITCHES AND SENSOR CONSTANTLY FAIL

One of the top failure points for most chlorine generator systems is at the flow switch or temp sensor. These switches serve a purpose, but commonly break, fail or wear out. When the switches stop working, the cell stops operating.

Powerclean Salt is a smarter cell design, without external switches and sensors. These generator cells use an electrical current in the cell to check for proper conductivity to ensure flow and proper temperature. Simply connect the cell to pump power–or a synchronized timer–for a more fool-proof operation.

4. IT’S TOO DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN THE CORRECT LEVEL OF SALT

Most salt cells have a narrow window of operation based on the level of salt in the pool. Sometimes as little as a 1000ppm window. Add too much salt and you have to drain water to dilute, which never makes customers happy.

A workhorse, Powerclean Salt cells perform in a broad range of salinity levels. The system will continue operating at a salinity level of 3,000 – 35,000 PPM.We don’t recommend it, but we have even had customers successfully operate a unit with seawater!

5. CHLORINE GENERATORS BREAK DOWN IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS

Some chlorine generators fail regularly when the temperature starts to rise outside. That’s bad news since that is the time you really want to get in the pool.

The heavy-duty heat sink in a Powerclean Salt control unit is excellent for hot environments. You could even say it’s a “bulletproof” system for areas with extreme outdoor temperatures like Texas and Arizona with temps regularly over 110ᴼ.
