Heavy grade: our products are made from the best quality stainless steel and copper. Each material is alive with properties all it’s own.
CMP uses heavyweight copper in all Bobè products. You can feel the difference in this durable material. Copper is a living material that will develop a patina, making each product unique.
Copper can change from brown to green to blue. All copper products will patina. Patina is a natural process of oxidation where copper reacts to the elements and produces a series of colors that build up in order to protect the copper.
The final color can vary widely depending on location, environment and other factors. The color can even already be developing before it’s delivered. Only fresh copper products will have a shiny «new penny» appearance.
Most Bobé products with copper options are available in regular or hammered copper. Hammered Copper has a unique appearance that adds texture and can emphasize patina. Regular copper has a smooth grain.
Hammered Copper is a non-standard material at this time and may have a longer lead time.
Our 316 Marine-grade Stainless Steel gives products a sleek yet timeless look. Stainless is tough in the elements and does not develop a patina, so it can always be quickly cleaned to keep that fresh, shiny style.
Unlike copper, stainless steel does not develop a patina. On occasion, small leftovers from the manufacturing process can cause a weathered appearance in some areas.
Simply clean using very fine red Scotch-Brite™ cleaning pads. In many cases, cleaning over time will greatly reduce the reappearance of build-up as the manufacturing leftovers are removed.
While Stainless Steel is designed to durably withstand the elements, salt can cause a corrosive reaction. Stainless steel products in a saltwater environment will corrode and need constant care. For this reason we do not recommend our stainless steel products for use in saltwater environments.
Cor-ten® steel is a type of untreated «weathering» steel that will develop a dark, «rusty» appearance. The natural oxidation is a protective layer that strengthens over time and does not require any maintenance or care.
Cor-ten® steel products can stain the surfaces below them. Clear coating the steel will not permanently prevent rust or weathering of the metal.
Glass and rock add color and individuality that finishes off an installation. All glass is fire rated for use in our products. Different cuts of glass are available in over a dozen different colors.
Bobé glass is fire-ready glass material – only use approved materials in fire pots and bowls. All glass is tumbled to remove sharp edges, but gloves should be used when handling as a precaution.
