Working Together During a Global Pandemic
CMP is committed to the core idea of “everything matters.” That statement includes all of our daily activities, as well as how we handle unexpected events like the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). As changes continue to be made with regulations surrounding COVID-19, it’s important for pool professionals to stay up on recent events in the industry.
The Centers For Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and others are giving out advice during this global pandemic. Here are a few resources for helpful information.
UPDATES FROM THE POOL INDUSTRY
The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) recognizes the need for members to have accurate information as it relates to the Coronavirus. They share advice in their Coronavirus Update: Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands. The PHTA will update the page regularly and make every attempt to provide CDC recommended actions and updates as the situation unfolds.
THE VALUE OF POOL PROFESSIONALS
As some businesses are forced to cut back or shut down completely, it’s important to remember the value of proper pool care. Multiple communities have recognized the maintenance of pools and spas as a critical business that should not be put on hold during the quarantine.
Water care is a health issue, and unmanaged water would only lead to more problems. Further, with many families stuck at home waiting out the pandemic, a healthy, functioning pool is a great way to stay active and busy. Pool pros are an important part of how we all get through this tough time together!
The CDC wants you to keep calm . . . and wash your hands. They recommend everyone to wash hands well and often and avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth. For additional information visit cdc.gov/coronavirus.
There’s more! Do you have questions about Coronavirus and Water? The CDC has answers → COVID-19 and Water Transmission.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes the COVID-19 pandemic as “a global health and societal emergency that requires effective immediate action by governments, individuals and businesses.” They also state that “all businesses have a key role to play” in minimizing the impact on society. Swift and effective actions made by all will help reduce exposure and subsequent loss. Find out more at who.int/health-topics/coronavirus.
